Colt M4
A1, SCALE 1:2
The Colt M4 carbine, based on the M16A2 and initially designed for auxiliary military personnel like vehicle crews and clerks, was quickly adopted by the U.S. Special Operations Command. This led to the development of the M4A1 model, which features full automatic fire capability and a Picatinny rail on the receiver for mounting various sights. The M4A1 differs from the M4 in having a heavier barrel and allows greater modular attachments compared to the M16. Notably, it includes a deeper magazine feed ramp for improved reliability. Originally intended for roles requiring less firepower than a full rifle, the M4 quickly became a primary weapon for many military units due to its compactness and versatility.
