The Beretta 92FS was introduced in 1984 and adopted by the U.S. military as the M9, replacing the M1911 as the standard sidearm. More than a million units have been produced, and while the U.S. military phased out the M9 in favor of newer models, the 92FS remains in production and widely used by military, law enforcement, and civilian shooters worldwide.
