Colt 1911

SCALE 1:2

The patent application for the design of this model was filed by John Moses Browning at the turn of the 20th century. The pistol was developed by the Colt company. It was adopted by the US Army on March 29, 1911, and remained in service until 1986. By the end of 1941, the US Army purchased only 56 732 of these pistols, and from 1942 to 1945, 1 936 880 pistols were purchased. The Colt M1911 was the favorite weapon of American General George Patton, who commanded the Seventh Army in the Mediterranean theater of World War II and the Third Army in France and Germany after the Allied invasion of Normandy in June 1944.
