This revolver was commissioned by the Russian government and was in service with the Russian army and police for a long time. The story started on December 6, 1871 in Texas, where Grand Duke Alexander Alexandrovich used this revolver to hunt buffalo. He was subsequently proclaimed Emperor of Russia Alexander III. It was his recommendation that contributed to the decision of the Russian military department to adopt this model for the Russian army
