Thompson

SCALE 1:2

This model was invented by American Brigadier General John Taliaferro Thompson. Initially, 50- and 100-round drums used 45ACP (11.43 mm). The rate of fire was 1000 rounds/minute. The first version of the submachine gun got the nickname “Annihilator” and was used by both law enforcement officers and criminals. For example, Al Capone preferred it to other brands. Thompson submachine guns were involved in the Valentine’s Day Massacre in Chicago (February 14, 1929), the most spectacular unsolved crime in gangland history. As production expanded, various modifications of Thompson submachine guns were adopted by the American, British, and French armies during World War II. In all, more than 100,000 pieces were delivered to the USSR under the American Lend-Lease Act (1941). While the first versions of the Thompson 45 ACP cost $209, the newest were priced at $45. In total, about 1.5 million guns were produced.

The miniature model is equipped with a drum-type magazine.
