This rifle served as the principal weapon of the US Army until 1936, after which it underwent several modifications. Starting in 1941, some of these firearms were converted to sniper rifles, equipped with 5x and 8x sights, and became known as Springfield M1903 A3 and M1903 A4, respectively. They remained in service with the US Army until the late 1950s. One of these rifles was featured in the Steven Spielberg movie “Saving Private Ryan”.
