Stechkin APS Pistol was invented by Igor Stechkin, a designer from Tula (Russia). The pistol was introduced into service in 1951.
This weapon featured both single and serial fire. Apart from Army and Navy officers, Stechkin APS pistols were used by mounted anti-tank grenade launcher, self-propelled gun, and tank crews. A silent version of the pistol, better known as Stechkin APB, designed by A.S. Neugodov entered production in 1972. In the Russian Federation, Stechkin APSs and APBs are currently used by the secret service and different types of unconventional units.

The grip of the miniature model is decorated with diamonds and emeralds. There are images of a wolf head at the left and a Muslim mosque with a prayer-tower at the right. The slides on both sides bear 24K gold extracts from Koran: There is no God but Allah. Verily, we have given thee an obvious victory! (in Arabic).
