The GP-30 Obuvka (“Shoe) under barrel grenade launcher was designed by V.N. Telesh, a designer from Tula (Russia) and introduced into service in 1989. It was found to be more effective and less expensive than its predecessor, the GP-25 Kostyor (“Bonfire) under barrel grenade launcher. With 400m of maximum range of fire GP-30 is one of the best underbarrel antipersonnel grenade launchers in the world. Since the weapon is mountable on any Kalashnikov assault rifle, this allowed small-arms & grenade launcher systems to be designed for Special Task Units of the Armed Forces, Federal Security Service and Ministry of the Interior of Russia.
A silent & flameless device allows the shooter to keep undetected.
