During the American Civil War 1861 — 1865 the American Government ordered 129 000 Colt Army Revolvers. Samuel Colt presented more than 60 revolvers to many well-known politicians and military officials worldwide, namely Nickolas I (Emperor of Russia), Giuseppe Garibaldi (Italian freedom fighter), Ulysses Grant (General-in-Chief of the Union Army from 1864 to 1869) and others.
In 1863, Abraham Lincoln presented Colt 1860 Army Revolvers to Karl XV (King of Sweden and Norway and Frederick VII (King of Denmark).
