This revolver model was named after Captain Samuel Hamilton Walker, a hero and veteran of the Mexican-American Wars, who helped Colt’s revolvers find their place
in the American Army’s small arms system. These revolvers were used successfully during the Mexican War in 1847- 1848, especially during the Battle of Huamantla
in October 1847. A total of 1100 Colt Walker revolvers were manufactured. It was a very powerful weapon with knock-down power outranging some
of Colt’s revolvers manufactured in the 21st century, 110 years after the legendary Colt Walker was brought into production. At present, 175 authentic 1847
Colt Revolvers are being kept in different collections worldwide.
