This model was invented by American brigadier general John Thompson. Its rage of fire was 1 000 rds/min. The most popular model, М1928А1, appeared in 1928
and was extensively used by the U.S. and British Armies, as well as supplied to the USSR under the U.S. Lend-Lease Act (1941) during the WW II.
